Thank you all for joining the Book Signing event at Grace Coffee this past October! Next up, I was fortunate to read at the Winter Festival of Poetry on March 9, 2025, at the Cafe Coda in Madison, WI (1224 Williamson Street, Madison). I look forward to our 2026 Festival!
I have been fortunate to have an Ekphrastic Poem on Display at the Trout Museum in Appleton, WI. The display ended at the end of May. Take a look at the Poem page to view the art and Ekphrastic Poem.
I was able to connect with the McFarland Library to host a poetry event for students and adults. Fifty-two entries were submitted and we honored all poets at a reception in April. Join us next year for the event. I will send out details about the event this fall.
This weekend is exciting. The WFOP will be celebrating their 75th anniversary and I am looking forward to this event June 13-15, 2025. Ross Gay will be the keynote presenter!
Sincerely,
Janet M. Stutz

"Point of View"
Brilliant, bright emergent in the field
The flower stands tall, witness to play
Every event that scurries past revealed
Stories sealed from a point of view with no say..

"Still"
Hush be the night
Silence overwhelmed with light
Finally quiet we stand
In spite of vastness grand
Quiet echoes the star-filled sky
Dreams emerge and sooth high
Once moment free from restless
Tranquil and left breathless......

Janet Stutz, from Cleveland, earned her BA in Elementary Education from Elmhurst University and later her Master’s and Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Aurora University. With nearly 40 years in education, she started as a 6th-grade teacher at Mooseheart Elementary and held various roles, including principal and superintendent in Illinois and Iowa. Now retired in McFarland, Wisconsin, she is the sister of photographer Dr. John Gilfether, who captures the photography for this poetry collection. Writing since age 16, inspired by her English teacher, she has composed many pieces, some set to music. Janet has been married for 38 years and has two adult children and three grandchildren.
John Gilfether, Janet's older brother, attended Ohio Northern University and received his Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy. He has obtained a Doctorate of Pharmacy at the University of Kentucky. John worked as a pharmacist for nearly 40 years and recently retired. His photos in this collection are spectacular.
